Pihel is a prominent Estonian television executive, director, and producer. He serves as the CEO of Duo Media Networks, the largest television and radio company in the Baltics. Under his leadership, Duo Media Networks has expanded significantly, overseeing 18 television channels across 30 countries, broadcasting in six languages, and managing 14 radio stations in Estonia.
Pihel’s career began at Estonian Public Television (ETV), as director and producer, later as head of entertainment. He has also held pivotal roles at commercial channels TV1 and TV3, contributing substantially to their program development. He was chairman of the Governmental Committee of the Television Digitalization of Estonia from 2007 to 2010. In addition to his executive roles, he has been lecturer at the Baltic Film and Media School for many years.
Pihel’s influence extends to his strategic decisions at Duo Media Networks, which recently separated from the Postimees Group, acquiring radio stations and the Kids Network Television. His vision focuses on the evolving landscape of media consumption, emphasizing the importance of the traditional television viewing combined with hybrid forms of content creation and delivery, extended use of cross-media and AI solutions.
